Imagine a life where you have complete control over your time, location, and finances. You can go wherever you want, whenever you want, with whoever you want. It might sound like a dream, but becoming a successful creator can make it come true. You might be thinking, “Can everybody become a creator?”
💡 Understanding Content Creation:
The short answer: YES
The longer answer: Yes, but no.
Everyone can become a creator, but only with the right content. Not just any random content.
I’ve heard countless YouTubers say, “If you keep posting consistently for two years and don’t give up, you’ll eventually make it.”
I’ll be brutally honest with you. That’s not true.
If you keep uploading content that nobody is interested in, it doesn’t matter how long or how consistently you keep at it; no one will watch.
✍️ Here’s an example from my own experience:
→ This is my fifth channel and my seventh year on YouTube. Only the last two years have been successful. Why? Because I adapted my content and embraced how YouTube operates.
So, if you’re serious about becoming a creator, remember that persistence is essential, but so is recognizing what your audience wants and how the platform works. Always remember: when it comes to starting a successful YouTube channel, CONTENT IS KING.
📚 Painful Lessons Learned:
1)Nobody cares about you in the beginning:
It's a harsh truth, but when you're starting out on YouTube, nobody knows who you are or has any reason to care about your content. You need to provide value to your audience first.
2)Give context and credibility.
Before you dive into your content, it's essential to establish your credibility and provide context for your viewers. They need to know why they should listen to you and what makes you qualified to discuss the topic at hand.
3)Hook, title, and thumbnail are everything.
No matter how good the rest of your video is, no one will watch it if any of these three elements fail.
SATISFY THE VIEWER IMMEDIATELY Deliver value IMMEDIATELY. Do NOT WASTE TIME. Avoid wasting time with unnecessary introductions, talking about your channel, or asking for likes and subscriptions. You can do them at the end of the video. Focus on keeping the viewer engaged and building tension throughout the video.
Make the first 3 seconds count.
Maintain congruency between the title, thumbnail, and the first seconds of the video.
🎨 How to come up with good content ideas:
1️⃣ Capture: Use tools like Milanote to gather and organize notes, images, videos, and tasks, aiding you in creating high-quality content.
2️⃣ Steal Like an Artist: Austin Kleon, in his book "Steal Like an Artist," emphasizes the importance of embracing influences and learning from the success of others. To come up with great content ideas, look at what successful YouTubers in your niche are doing and find ways to put your spin on their ideas. Don't plagiarize or copy them outright, but use their work as a starting point for your content.
As Kleon says, "Nothing is completely original. All creative work builds on what came before." By studying successful creators' techniques, presentation styles, and tones, you can understand how they connect with their audience and apply those lessons to your content.

3️⃣ Get Feedback and Refine Your Ideas: Gather feedback from your circle and your viewers. Keep an open mind and use constructive criticism to refine your content.
4️⃣ Be Consistent: Consistency is vital. Create a realistic content creation schedule, plan with a content calendar, and consider batch-producing your content.
5️⃣ Be Honest With Yourself: Don't assume that the algorithm hates you or that your YouTube channel is doomed just because a few of your videos are underperforming. Don't delete the YouTube Studio app if your videos aren't performing as well as you'd like (like old Ruri). Instead, analyze what you can do better and face your problems head-on.

🚀 Quote of the Week
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
― H. Jackson Brown Jr.
